Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, the Great Death-Conquering mantra is dedicated to Rudra as found in the Rig Veda. Maha mrityunjaya literally means the great victory over death. It is related with Shiva, the destroyer of ignorance, and the liberator from the cycle of death and rebirth. This mantra has many names and forms. It is also known as the Rudra mantra, Tryambakam mantra and Mrita-Sanjivini mantra because it has a component of the “life-restoring” and potency to give protection with manifold blessings. The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is hailed by the sages as the heart of the Veda. Along with the Gayatri mantra it holds the highest place among the many mantras used for contemplation and meditation. The Maha Mrityunjay pooja is performed for Lord Shiva to protect the person suffering from the illness or to avoid untimely death. Special emphasis is attached to Lord Shiva worship during this Jaap Yagya.

Mahamrityunjaya – This is believed to be one of the most powerful yagya mentioned in Rig Veda & Shiv Puraan which has the power to bring life back even in a person close to death. The Maha Mrityunjay puja is performed for Lord Shiva to protect the person suffering from the illness or to avoid untimely death/akaal mrityu. It also protects people from any evil spirit/jadoo tona and from any other eventuality. This is a long procession and a group of sadhaks perform this 125000 Jaap for 11 days to complete and then Havan or Homam take place on the last day.
