Govardhan puja is performed on the fourth day of diwali. Govardhan is a small hillock in Braj, near Mathura. Cow dung hillocks are made on this day, which symbolize the Mount Govardhan. Cow dung/manure is known as go-var in which go means cow and var means boon.
